Description

PZ Probe™ is E3D’s compact bed levelling system that comes equipped with a compatible PZ Board to allow users to integrate contact probing into existing setups beyond the Revo ecosystem. Please note that PZ Probe cannot be integrated into a standard Revo Voron sink, if you want to use PZ Probe bed levelling on your Voron then we recommend that you purchase this Coldside kit.

Please note, do not exceed 5V.

Whether it’s for a 3D printing application or something entirely different – this kit gives you flexibility with two different communication methods (I2C, UART) and allows for triggering on the compression or expansion of the piezoelectric element. Imagine using your PZ washer to probe with an integrated extruder, use it as an X, Y or Z probe or measure tool offsets with a tool changer!

Configuring the PZ Probe Board

The PZ Board can be customised in 5 different ways, allowing you to choose the communication device that best suits you. Various commands can be used to fine-tune the settings, which are then saved to the preset of your choice. Further details about the PZ Probe configuration and commands are available in our technical datasheet.

Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is the PZ Probe?
It’s a compact piezoelectric bed-levelling and Z-homing system that turns your nozzle into a physical contact probe by measuring mechanical strain when the nozzle touches the bed.

What is the maximum voltage of the product?
5V. Please note, exceeding this voltage can lead to serious complications!

If my print bed gets damaged during use is that covered under the warranty?
No, we cannot cover any damage to your print bed that occurs whilst using this machine.

I had high hopes for this

After seeing people use this on V0 machines I wanted to give it a go, I wanted to continue using my dragon hotend so I ordered the standalone ( after this I wish I bought the Revo Voron one)

If you have a cantilevered bed, don't bother with this

After initial success, where it was a 5/5 product, you start to lose accuracy to the point where it either false triggers, or not at all.

Not all of the presets, especially the filtered ones work, they just never trigger.

The standlone documentation is bare, you have to read the Revo voron one, the docs are more complete

The UART interface allows you to tune the filter but the instructions are useless and I could not get the filter to work at any parameter

Following the troubleshooting guide did not help, I did my best to redesign and reassemble the mount but it doesn't help

They shouldn't have sold this standalone

Fast shipping, real easy to implement

shipping was very fast, probes work perfectly, perfect addition to any multitool printer like a Jubilee, makes z-axis calibration a lot easier.

Very Accurate!

I bought this probe and installed in in a DragonBurner cowl on my custom triple Z V0.2 (TriZero). I modified the Dragonburner mount for my hotend, to fit the probe/washer/piezo, and added a mount for the board to the carriage, then set it up according to the extensive documents provided by E3D. It took alot of trial and error to get it working well, but now it seems to be going good. Very accurate probing for z_tilt_adjust in klipper, and homing.

My only gripes so far are that I cant run it while the hotend and heatsink fan are on, so I have to do all probing cold, then compensate via z-offset once the printer is up to temp, which isnt a big deal for me. Im thinking if i follow the guide about connecting the board to my Pi4 and tune the signal filtering I might have more success, but like a fool I went ahead and modified the cable, such that i need to make a new one now in order to do so. and so it would be nice if E3D provided a second connector for making a custom cable, as I had to mangle the one they provided to wire it to my toolhead board, and its another $10 to order one from Digikey.ca ($1.00part, $8 shipping)

I initially received the item with shipping damage. However E3D kindly sent a new piezo probe and it is the most accurate Bed leveling probe I've purchased to date. Not to mention that one does not need to worry about the Z offset!
