Description

These premium HotEnds are an official collaboration between E3D and Bambu Lab. The E3DLC™ coated nozzles are exceptionally wear resistant and significantly outperform other hardened nozzles allowing your A1/A2 to print notoriously tricky filaments with ease. E3D are very proud to be the only officially approved manufacturer of aftermarket Bambu Lab HotEnds.

High Flow

The internal nozzle modification of this HotEnd means you can increase your volumetric flow rate by up to 70%! That means you can expect more reliable and consistent extrusion at the same speeds or bump up the volumetric flow rate limit in the slicer to utilise the motion systems' capabilities fully.

Smooth and Strong

High-speed printing often sacrifices visual and functional aspects in favour of speed but these HotEnds maintain interlayer adhesion strength even at higher speeds; resulting in the perfect filament finish and strong parts for functional applications.

Non-Stick Coating

The state-of-the-art E3DLC™ coating applied to the nozzle prevents plastic buildup. This will drastically reduce the likelihood of print crashes and limit the amount of cosmetic defects in your prints.

Long Lifespan Nozzles

Our ObXidian® technology significantly extends nozzle life because the nozzle is several orders of magnitude harder than other steel nozzles on the market. Better for your pocket, and the planet.

Effortless Upgrade

These magnetic HotEnds couldn’t be easier to install. The heater and temperature wires are built into the toolhead so all you need to do is unclip the existing HotEnd, slot in the new one and you’re good to go. No physical adjustment to the mount or part-cooling is required.

E3D gives a small royalty to Bambu Lab for every sale of this Bambu-approved A1/A2 upgrade. Bambu gives all this license fee back to the community, and is generously donating 50% to the Sanjay Mortimer Foundation, a charity set up to support young neurodiverse people with a talent for engineering.

Please note:

  • ObXidian® nozzles are exceptionally wear resistant compared to other products on the market and significantly outperform other hardened nozzles. Improvements in ‘exotic’ engineering filaments mean that some new materials which include aggressive fillers, including but not limited to Polymaker’s Fiberon range (PA612-CF, PA6-CF, PA6-GF and PA12-CF), can cause significant wear on even ObXidian® nozzles. E3D is actively developing even more specialist solutions for these materials. In the meantime please be aware that your ObXidian® nozzle will not be everlasting under extreme material conditions.
  • Some filled materials contain particles that are close to, if not larger than, some of the smaller industry standard nozzle sizes, including up to 0.4mm. Attempting to print such materials through these nozzle sizes significantly increases the risk of a jam. Please check your filament manufacturer’s datasheet for recommended minimum nozzle orifice diameter to ensure that the nozzle/HotEnd you choose is suitable for your use case.
  • On the A1 and A1 Mini 45mm3/s is the maximum volumetric flow rate possible for a 0.4mm nozzle under E3D’s test conditions. This is derived from the maximum motion system speed of an A1 printer (500mm/s), a track width of 0.5mm and a layer height of 0.2mm (both of which are kept constant for all 0.4mm tests). Increasing the commanded flow rate above this value has no effect as the speed is restricted by the motion limit of the machine.
  • These HotEnds are not compatible with the Bambu Lab H2 Series printers.
  • The actual time savings you will see will be influenced by the print settings used, as well as the print design itself.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will these HotEnds actually reduce my print time?
Print time reduction is affected by many variables, including the part you are wanting to print. In most cases using our premade slicer profiles you should see a decrease in print time – however if you are printing very small detailed models with little to no infill you may not see a dramatic decrease in print time as we prioritise maintaining high visual quality in the outside perimeters.

Should I choose the ObXidian version or the DiamondBack version?
It comes down to a question of longevity and intended use case. The ObXidian High Flow HotEnd is fantastic for light to moderate use with filaments with aggressive fillers such as Carbon Fibre and Glass fibre. The DiamondBack version is unlikely to see wear in the printer's lifespan. It’s a great choice for printing primarily with aggressive-filled filaments 24/7, therefore giving you peace of mind, a true set-and-forget HotEnd!

Will this nozzle ever wear?
Yes, given enough time these HotEnds may exhibit wear, but will do so considerably slower than a Hardened Steel nozzle. Wear resistance is difficult to quantify due to the numerous variables involved, including base polymer, additive, brand, temperature, and print speed.

Does this void my warranty with Bambu?
No, Bambu Lab have collaborated with E3D throughout the development of this product and has officially approved the use of these HotEnds.

Can I still print with normal filament like PLA?
Absolutely! Even using the standard Bambu Lab print profiles, you will notice more visual consistency due to improved thermal performance and flow boosting, enabling you to have stronger, better-looking parts.

Are these HotEnds compatible with the BambuLab H2 Series printers?
No, they are only compatible with the A1, A1 Mini and A2L.

Do I need to change the settings on my printer to use this HotEnd?
The only thing you need to change on the printer settings is to select 'Hardened Steel' as your nozzle type. You can do this by navigating to Settings > Maintenance > Nozzle and then choosing the correct nozzle size.

Simply Awesome

I wasn't sure I would be into 3d printing in short it's been an amazing training experience in patience.

These Hot Ends are next level though. Applying the premade print profiles from makerwold to my prints has saved dozens of hours. I haven't used the 0.6mm hot end yet but for the 0.4 I can see between 1 minute on short prints and 2 hours on long prints saved when I swap back and forth between profiles when slicing. Nomillay I would say about a half hour. But on long prints eg 10-12 hours it normally saves me an hour or two due to the higher extrusion rate. .45mm vs .20mm

Easy slot-in replacement for tougher filaments

Wow. Super simple plug & play with my A1 Mini and allows me to print CF PLA just as easily as any basic PLA. Very nice!

Great nozzle

To the person not seeing a difference you have to tweak your setting to allow it to print faster. Your slicer will assume you can't print crazy fast due to it being set for standard bambu a1 nozzles and stop you from doing it. Mainly calibrating max flow rate and changing the setting. With sunulu PLA+ 2.0 it's normally set to 21. I tried printing up to 50 with the 0.6 ObXidian nozzle and the quality is still good. The slicer shows mostly printing in the 3X range because not all movements can go fast enough, but it does hit 50 for long simple lines. Have not tried going faster, but I think it can by a little bit more. You may also need to tweak other settings for optimal results, but just the max flow rate is the most important one.

Also the anti-stick on the nozzle is pretty great, I had previously had a coating you paint on the nozzle every once in a while which I don't mind doing, it kinda works, but this nozzle without having to go through that extra step often has less stick, getting more stick on my sock than on this nozzle.

Not sure about this one. Everyone online has told me that the Bambu A1 is hard-capped for speed and that this Nozzle is just a marketing gimmick. I have yet to see or notice a reduction in speed or quality so now I feel I’ve been taking advantage of.

This is an awesome HotEnd work way better the oem worth every penny

This drastically has changed the speed of the A1.
45 flow rate for PLA saves a tonne of time.
I wish that they could offer a slicer option that can be permanent.
