Description

Key features, Print any filament, Boost your flow rate by over 60%, Improve surface finish and print reaibility, Easy installation and maintenance, Built to last.

Powered by brand new ObXiDian® 500 technology, these premium HotEnds are an official collaboration between E3D and Bambu Lab. The unique coating on the nozzles makes them at least 5 times more wear resistant than our popular ObXidian range! Users will get exceptional wear-resistance that effortlessly outshines other hardened nozzles. This long-lasting, simple upgrade allows you to easily achieve pristine prints with ANY filament over and over again! E3D are very proud to be the only officially approved manufacturer of aftermarket Bambu Lab HotEnds.

Go with the higher flow

The innovative 4 channel internal nozzle modification of this HotEnd significantly improves heat transfer through the filament and allows you to boost your volumetric flow rate by over 60%! That means you can expect more reliable and consistent extrusion at the same speeds or bump up the volumetric flow rate limit in the slicer to utilise the motion systems' capabilities fully.

High quality at high speed

High-speed printing often sacrifices visual and functional aspects in favour of speed, but these HotEnds maintain interlayer adhesion strength even at higher speeds, resulting in the perfect filament finish and strong parts for functional applications.

Unlock printing with gnarly filaments

Most abrasive materials simply won’t wear an ObXiDian 500 nozzle. Upgrade so you can print with any filament you like (including UV-reactive/ “glow in the dark” filaments) without endless maintenance.

Long lifespan nozzles

Our ObXiDian 500 technology significantly extends nozzle life by making the primary wear points on the nozzle several orders of magnitude more wear-resistant than other steel nozzles on the market. Better for your pocket, and the planet.

No more sticky situations

The state-of-the-art coating applied to the nozzle has a low surface energy to prevent filament build-up. This makes it easier to clean the nozzle between prints and also drastically reduces the likelihood of print crashes and cosmetic defects in your prints.

Effortless upgrade

These magnetic HotEnds couldn’t be easier to install. The heater and temperature wires are built into the toolhead so all you need to do is unclip the existing HotEnd, slot in the new one and you’re good to go. No physical adjustment to the mount or part-cooling is required.

Buying outside the UK?

Avoid additional charges and lead time by ordering from your local E3D Reseller.

E3D gives a small royalty to Bambu Lab for every sale of this Bambu-approved H2D/H2C/H2S/P2S/X2D/A2L upgrade. Bambu gives all this license fee back to the community, and is generously donating 50% to the Sanjay Mortimer Foundation, a charity set up to support young neurodiverse people with a talent for engineering.

Please note:

ObXiDian 500 nozzles are exceptionally wear resistant compared to other products on the market and significantly outperform other hardened nozzles. Improvements in ‘exotic’ engineering filaments mean that some new materials which include aggressive fillers, including but not limited to Polymaker’s Fiberon range, can cause significant wear on even ObXiDian 500 nozzles. E3D is actively developing even more specialist solutions for these materials. In the meantime please be aware that your ObXiDian 500 nozzle will not be everlasting under extreme material conditions.

Some filled materials contain particles that are close to, if not larger than, some of the smaller industry standard nozzle sizes, including up to 0.4mm. Attempting to print such materials through these nozzle sizes significantly increases the risk of a jam. Please check your filament manufacturer’s datasheet for recommended minimum nozzle orifice diameter to ensure that the nozzle/HotEnd you choose is suitable for your use case.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this product reduce my print time?
Print time reduction is affected by many variables, including the part you are wanting to print. In most cases using our premade slicer profiles you should see a decrease in print time – however if you are printing very small, detailed models with little to no infill you may not see a dramatic decrease in print time as we prioritise maintaining high visual quality in the outside perimeters.

Will the nozzle ever wear?
Yes, given enough time the nozzle may exhibit wear, but will do so considerably slower than a Hardened Steel nozzle. Expected product life is difficult to quantify due to the numerous variables involved, including base polymer, additive, brand, temperature, and print speed.

Does this void my warranty with my printer?
No, Bambu Lab have collaborated with E3D throughout the development and has officially approved the use of these products.

Can I still print with normal filament like PLA?
Absolutely! Even using the standard print profiles, you will notice more consistent visual consistency due to improved thermal performance and flow boosting of the high flow variants, enabling you to have stronger, better-looking parts.

What’s the benefit of this product if my printer doesn’t actually reach 500°C?
You will always be restricted by the maximum printing temperature of your machine (for a H2D/H2C/H2S/X2D printer that is 350°C and for a P2S/A2L it's 300°C). However, even printing at lower temperatures you will still get all the other benefits of the product such as the extreme abrasion resistance which enhances longevity, and the non-stick coating on the nozzle which makes it easier to clean and reduces plastic build-up/print defects.

Can I print with two different nozzle types on a dual head printer?
Yes, it is possible to install two different nozzle types on a dual head printer so long as you adjust the flow settings in Bambu Slicer accordingly. When using a High Flow ObXiDian 500 HotEnd you should select ‘High Flow’ and for a DiamondBack HotEnd you should select ‘Standard’ flow.

Pretty high flow rate >40mm3

Pretty high flow rate. Tested to 40mm3 without issue, seems to be able to go higher. The BBL HF was only able to achieve 30mm3.

These have been brilliant until the last firmware

These have been brilliant until the last firmware update. Since then randomly the printer no longer recognises these hotends and you have to manually reset them. I have a ticket open with both bambu and E3d. Both are point at each other :( please fix this asap.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We completely understand your concerns, especially given the investment you’ve made.

We are actively taking the lead on exploring options to fix this as quickly as possible, including a sticker, but we want to ensure any solution we provide is robust and reliable before rolling it out. As soon as we have confirmed next steps, we will contact all customers who have purchased these HotEnds directly.

In the meantime, as a temporary workaround, we recommend the following to improve HotEnd recognition:
Keep the printer door closed and the lid on during use
Minimise bright external light sources shining into the front of the printer, as reflections can interfere with barcode recognition
It's worth reiterating that whilst it is very frustrating, if/when the error appears, you can dismiss it and manually select the nozzle (High Flow Hardened Steel 0.4mm / 0.6mm) to proceed with printing.

We appreciate that this situation is frustrating, and we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused. Please be assured that resolving this is a priority for us, and we will keep you updated as soon as we have more concrete information.

I bought two of these nozzles for my H2D and they worked right from the first try.
I´ve used the E3D-Profiles together with Extrudr Green Tec Pro and the speed was insane. The print quality is realy good in relation to the high print speed.

Beware using with H2D

I purchased three of the E3D ObXidian hotends via Matterhackers reseller - one for my H2S and two for my H2D. The most recent firmware update of the H2D invalidates the nozzles as unrecognizable. Bambu Labs says it's because E3D is not following the specifications for color - the pink throws off the scanning before each print. The workaround so far is an edit to the GCODE, but still annoying if you use the built-in slicer tests for tuniung filaments. Unsure as to when this issue will be fixed, and wether or not anyone can trade in the pinks for appropriate colored nozzles.

Dear Ryan,

Thank you for providing your feedback on our High Flow ObXiDian 500 HotEnd and for your patience whilst we investigated the problem.

I wanted to get in touch to let you know that we’ve recently identified the cause of the issue: the shiny finish of the heatsinks was affecting the printer camera’s ability to read them reliably.

We tested a wide range of fixes and we're happy to share that we've landed on a solution: a matte black, high-temperature sticker that covers one full side of the HotEnd. The sticker covers the fins, but this won't affect HotEnd performance - airflow comes in from the side, so heat dissipation is unaffected. If you’d like a sticker then please request one using this form - https://forms.office.com/pages/responsepage.aspx?id=_O29sq7ymEqcDCigAP2txUJH6ZYX2oVLqyqcyMFS-xFUNkRNTzE0Szc0VFlKQUc2S1UxOFRCTTJWNCQlQCN0PWcu&route=shorturl

We expect to be able to ship stickers out W/C 15th June.

In the future we'll be transitioning to matte black heatsinks sourced directly from Bambu Lab, which will eliminate this issue entirely and mean no stickers are needed going forward.

Thank you again for your feedback and your patience whilst we rectified this issue.

With best wishes,
Emma

Significant Upgrade over stock hotend

The HF 500 has proven to be such a significant upgrade over the standard hotend. Breaking this down, for simpler prints, 166% speed mode is quite possible with little effect on quality.

Most notably for me however, is the quality of standard speed printing increasing. Having that hotend consistently at the right temperature has vastly improved my PLA and PETG printing.
