E3D Rebrand FAQs

The '80s called, they want their logo back

E3D as you know and love it has been rocking the iconic lime green and blue cogs logo since 2016. This was an enhanced version of the original blue logo which was – fun fact – originally designed on the back of a beer mat in the Isle of Wight.

The punchy green colour that was introduced five years ago became a huge part of our brand identity, with every room in our office featuring a loud green wall, matching green chairs, bins, and a meeting pod that arrived later. This logo will forever have a place in our hearts, but after much reflection we’ve decided that it’s time for a change.

Pushing boundaries, taking risks, and striving to change the way that humanity manufactures goods are all at the core of our identity. To achieve this, we believe that our brand needs to reflect these values, so we’ve been working hard to create a new identity for E3D. We have a new logo, brand colour palette, website design, and we’ve introduced an array of brand shapes which should be recognisable and relatable to many of our users.

We appreciate that these are significant changes, so we’re going to do our best to put ourselves in your shoes and answer some questions we think you may have...

Why rebrand now?

Simply put, we have an amazing new ecosystem of products lined up and we wanted to take our branding to the next level to reflect the product innovation behind it. Maybe you’ve noticed over the past few years we’ve significantly increased the number of 3D printer manufacturers we’ve partnered with. It’s important to us that we have a logo that’s smart and professional, and one that they’re proud to present on their products.

When are your new products landing?

All will be revealed at the TCT Show next week (28th - 30th September), don’t worry the public announcements are already scheduled for those of you unable to attend which we know is most of you!

Are you still going to be the fun, daring brand that we fell in love with nearly 10 years ago?

Absolutely. While updating our brand image is crucial for us to continue to grow at this pace, that is just E3D from the outside. Inside, we're still the same bunch of innovative, passionate individuals who don’t take life too seriously but really want to change the face of FFF 3D printing.

Despite the change in our business model with increased B2B partnerships, we’ll never forget our roots and where we came from. Without our loyal customers, we wouldn’t be where we are today, period.

You’ll be seeing more professional-looking content, brand consistency, and all that good stuff 😉 but we’ll continue to engage with our community in the fun, slightly (– ok very!) cheeky E3D manner that you’ve all become accustomed to over the last decade.

To end

As you can imagine, over the past five years our old logo has landed itself in many places, which means we have many places to update! We’ve made great progress with updating our website, marketing collateral, stickers, and so on. With environmental impact at the forefront of our decision making, we’ve decided to run down our old packaging stock before updating it with new E3D branding. Don’t be alarmed if you receive a product packaged with our old branding, it will contain new shiny E3D stickers to help you take your mind off the old packaging

We’ll be inviting you to give feedback about the E3D rebrand on social media over the next few days, so keep your eyes peeled for our Facebook/Twitter/Instagram polls.

We’d like to thank you all for helping us get to where we are today and hope you continue our journey of growth and innovation with us. We have some exciting things on the horizon!
